Preventing Identity Theft

Statistics show that it may take 14 months for a person to discover that their identity has been stolen. To guard against this type of fraud, order a copy of your credit report once a year from TransUnion, Experian and Equifax credit bureaus. Federal law requires credit bureaus to provide you with a free copy of your report once a year. (You may also obtain a free report if you have recently been denied credit).
